Müller 'fired up' for Supercup final

Thomas Müller resumed training less than a week ago, but the forward is already full of zest after his holiday. He and his team-mates aim to prove that on Sunday at 20.30 CET as FC Bayern take on Borussia Dortmund in the Supercup final, which is their first competitive fixture of the new season.

“The whole nation is looking forward to the duel between Bayern and Dortmund. It's nice to start with a match like this, compared to an ordinary friendly. We're fired up and we absolutely want to win it,” the 26-year-old world champion declared at the Säbener Strasse after training on Thursday.

Prestige duel with Dortmund

Müller stressed that “there are other titles which are more valuable” this season, but the Supercup final is “not a match we take lightly. It's against Dortmund, it's about prestige. It's about a title we haven't won in three years, so our motivation is high of course.”

After a four-week holiday Müller feels fit for the encounter between the reigning champions and the Bundesliga runners-up. “In principle I think I'll be able to play 90 minutes without problems after a holiday even ten years from now. The basic fitness is there. I didn't only sit on the sofa on my vacation after all, I'm always moving,” said Müller.
