Neuer rested for Rostov trip

Info

Manuel Neuer will not feature for FC Bayern in Wednesday's Champions League trip to Rostov. The World's Best Goalkeeper has a tight calf and sat out Monday's squad training session. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has opted to rest his number one for the meeting with the Russian runners-up. Neuer will instead remain in Munich for treatment and an individual training programme.

Robben and Martínez in the sandpit

Two days ahead of the Champions League fixture in Rostov, Arjen Robben and Javi Martínez, both currently sidelined with muscular problems, returned to the training ground. The pair initially completed the warm-up exercises at the start of the squad workout before switching to the sand of the beach volleyball court for gruelling individual drills.

Dias appointed to ref in Russia

Artur Soares Dias of Portugal will take charge of a Champions League match involving FC Bayern for the first time on Wednesday evening after the 37-year-old was assigned to the game in Rostov by UEFA. Dias has only refereed a fixture in Europe's elite club competition on one previous occasion, although a handful of the FCB stars recently made his acquaintance, as he was the match official for Germany's friendly away to Italy last week.
